MN Bin Bath and its creation is very much a tale of yin and yang.

In one half, we have Alex. He’s a career fire captain in the Twin Cities. For the last several years, he has had the dream of starting his own trash bin cleaning company, while continuing to remain a firefighter as well. On the other side is Mike. He’s been a professional poker player since 2004, was the second ever member of the Minnesota Poker Hall of Fame in 2014 as its youngest inductee to date, and never in his wildest dreams pictured he’d be an integral part of owning a company such as this -- but is so glad he is.

One day, while working together at the fire department, Alex was excitedly telling some fellow fire fighters about this business concept and the fact that his main hold up was wanting a second person involved, since being a firefighter often means being on the clock for 24 hours, or sometimes even longer than that – a fact that, sadly, doesn’t bare well to operating a 5+ day a week service-based business. Alex also knew that there were certain aspects of this business, specifically within the back-end operations and on the technology side, where he could use some additional help.

One of his buddies at the station instantly thought of his close friend, Mike, who he knew to be dependable, highly organized and responsible, and a guy with just enough entrepreneurial itch to say heck yes – in addition to having just enough experience operating some other businesses and creation of creative marketing materials for them. So they got introduced to each other and did some meetups to discuss it; plan it; get to know each other – and Alex and Mike quickly discovered they are in fact two perfect complimentary pieces to operate and execute this business together, while developing a great friendship in the process.

Alex is, even if he’s too humble to admit it, amazing with people. He has a calming demeanor you just instantly know you can trust. Being used to maintenance and operation of large equipment and machinery with his daily job, he’s a natural fit to head the front-end equipment maintenance, route training, and handling plenty of conversations about potential sales partnerships and getting the word out to his hundreds of connections within the community.

Mike in turn brings a back end, day-to-day operational management steadiness that can help hold the glue together. He adds some tech savviness to the team and uses the book-smart, introverted side of his brain to take on the challenge of operating the unheralded parts of the company such as bookkeeping, marketing materials, and operational logistics. His highly competitive nature and love of games and solving problems with a grinder-mentality mesh perfectly within his roles within MN Bin Bath.

As a team, we pride ourselves on our backgrounds, and pride ourselves on bringing an environmentally friendly, trustworthy service to our community.
